To Sha Lugal-Andar, from his loyal servant Eriacu, noblest of the house of Aku, the moon god, who appointed you translator of his command, wishes you good health, and sound judgement in your rule.

It has been many revolutions since Sisit found the rock inscriptions in the land of Persa, and through great effort and lasting perseverance, you, divine Sha, have granted me the privilege of writing speach unto paper; a craft I now possess first amongst your nobler subjects. As such, I have been tasked by you, divine Sha, to give account of our situation, and record it as the ancients did. As my station commands of me, I shall remain as close to the truth as I have heard it from those equally of intellect; those whom you have appointed as governors in your stead, the Ense, who watch over your land with great care, and even greater love.

Sisit, our digger into the past, tells us it is today 14 March 3026 using the calendar of the ancients. In your calendar, it is 12 Adaru, in the 965th revolution since the rising of the sun, the 41st revolution of your divine guidance.

As of current, your people occupy three main settlements along the Blue River. To there from where the waters come, closer to the heavens, lay Karkor Sha, house to Eragal; to where the waters go, at the lower edge the world, lay Kandan Qand, house to Lahar. Beyond lay lands of which only travelers tell tales. Befitting her position as home to you, divine Sha, our first subject shall be Qand, center of the known world, the foundation of heaven and earth, house to the great Aku, your guide.

Tradition holds that a great city, built by Aku himself, once stood here, but so far we have found none of the tablets or remains found elsewhere. It is possible we are mistaken in her location, but we must not fool ourselves into thinking there never was such a city; like sand piling over rocks, the Blue River is lined with hills that appear unnatural in their location. It is up to our future selves to discover what secrets these hills may hold, for whatever the case may be, Qand is now only a small settlement. We count 80 persons; 45 male, 35 female, 40 of working age and station, 5 of your noble family. We have built 3 clay pits with cranes, 1 sawmill, 1 fishery, and 1,500 kus of pathwork. Our grain stores are expected to last us for another 30 days, and the eldest have urged us to commit labor into constructing a large storage space of some sorts.

In more ignorant days, we thought that the Blue River stained red was a bad omen; how foolish we were. It is clear that Aku has shown us the presence of iron in the foothills. Would we be more foolish than those before, should we not attempt to extract this treasure that made the ancients great? Or would be wise, to not extract the agent of their destruction?

(Eriacu will be updating the history as Qand develops)
